The athletic therapist/ equipment manager will be responsible for player injuries, sicknesses and general trainer and equipment manager duties. You must have a strong work ethic, strong communication skills, work well individually and as part of the team. You must be flexible with hours and have a good understanding of the hockey environment.

Majors fend off the Attack
"Owen Sound, already without star forward Joey Hishon, lost captain Garrett Wilson midway through the first period. Wilson was checked heavily into the boards and wasn’t able to return. Now he and Hishon may not be available for tonight’s game.
“Obviously, the hit on Wilson is a factor for our team,” said Reeds. “Another one of our leadership guys wasn’t able to finish the game.”
Wilson will be evaluated in the morning but Reeds didn’t sound optimistic about his availability when he spoke at a post-game news conference.
“You know, when an athlete starts asking the same question over and over again, then that’s reason to have concern,” said the coach, crediting the decision by team athletic therapist Andy Brown to take Wilson out of the game."

Fraser: How do officials stay in play but out of the way?
"The puck took a quick rise off Tony's stick and I just missed blocking it with my elbow before it struck me directly in the face. The puck broke my nose, fractured my tooth and split my lip for seven stitches.
When I blew the whistle, blood sprayed out of the air hole. Ron Francis of the Pens displayed a look of shock as he caught a glimpse of me. I couldn't continue in this condition and Hawks athletic therapist Mike Gapski escorted me off the ice for repairs. Walking through the Hawk bench, I paused and informed coach Darryl Sutter that we had to stop the game while I got stitched up. Sutter shook his head in disgust and said "F%&*# Kerry, hurry up and get back. We're pressing.""
Boogaard always a favourite in Minnesota

Concussion symposium next month in Brandon
"An open public-information symposium on preventing concussions in sports is scheduled for June 8 in Brandon.
The session is set to begin at 7 p.m. at the Victoria Inn. Admission is free of charge.
The keynote speaker is athletic therapist and researcher Glen Bergeron.
The panel of athletes will include Brandon's Brayden Cuthbert, who suffered a concussion in January and missed the rest of his first season with the Moose Jaw Warriors of the Western Hockey League."

Lang taking patient approach
"The contract of trainer/athletic therapist Greg Mayer is also set to expire. However, progress has been made on that front and the Pats are expected to offer him an extension. Mayer is a long-time associate of Hunt, who's in the midst of preparations for the Pats' upcoming spring camp (May 27-29).
